Flow cytometry is constantly testing the boundaries of technology innovation, pushing for faster throughput, more sensitive detection, and more and more fluorochromes in each tube. With each breakthrough in technology, cytometrists are faced with the difficult problem of determining whether the answers they get are "real" and accurate.
As scientists, we are obligated to pursue that question.
